Daily Insp! (4)

Follow my blog with bloglovin

I found another amazing artist on flickr! Check out their sketches and digital illustrations.

In other news, I'm still working on my sketches. Yes, I'm taking longer than usual. I've been busy and a little unmotivated lately. Perhaps it's because it's summer and I have a million things to do everyday including work work work, and this weekend I might go on a trip where my sketch book will not be joining me (for once!).

I still found some pictures this week that I loved and which really did give me the motivation to pick up my pencil, open my sketchbook, find a blank page, and start making some lines. Here they are:

These are all by kissabug and found on flickr. I usually don't use color in my sketches, but kissabug does a good job incorporating it. Perhaps someday I will add some color into my book. I'm starting to realize I really like owls.

Have a magnificent weekend!

Daily Inspiration (3).... after some down time

I'm back after a busy, busy week! Trying to work on my drawing in my spare time (I have that?) but here are some things I recently found to help by an artist called BRUNESKINE® on flickr. The shading is just amazing! I'm going to try to add more shading to my next sketch. I really love the Mississippi John Hurt sketch and what's even more exciting is that I finally booked my trip to New Orleans where I'll be staying only blocks away from the mighty Mississippi! Click on the images to see them on flickr! Wandering around on their flickr page, I saw that they also have a blog!

This also makes me think about that fact that maybe I should be signing my drawings...

Meek Page 9: Talk to the Trees

This one was a little bit inspired by a friend who liked to talk to trees when she was a child (and name them!) and a little bit by the fact that I just love trees. My favorite color has been green since second grade mostly because of how gorgeous leaves, tree tops, and vines are. I finally did a whole entry with pigment liners and I love the crisp look. It is so much better than pencil.

In other news, my tree-talking friend and I are working on a painting right now that we plan to sell on Etsy! I'll update on that from time to time. If you don't know what Etsy is, go now and find out. A warning though, you will get addicted.

I'm considering the next entry theme to be dolls and keys. I don't know how they are connected but I'm sure I'll find a way. If you have any suggestions for themes, please leave them in the comments! I'd really appreciate it.

P.S. I got this new fancy signature thing!

Meek Page 8: Little Man and some inspiration

I sketched this little man a couple of weeks ago. The theme of the entry was 'directions' and as you can see he's pointing. It was the first time I used my new pigment liners! They look amazing on the thick yellowish pages. The rest of the sketches on the page were done in pencil. They're mostly compasses and arrows. Oddly, the man reminds me of my dad, even though he looks nothing like him.

"We can never judge the lives of others, because each person knows only their own pain and renunciation. It's one thing to feel that you are on the right path, but it's another to think that yours is the only path." - Paulo Coelho

(This quote was one of the inspirations for the picture above)

If anyone has any theme ideas for future entries please leave them in the comments!

Daily Inspiration (1)

I'm currently working on a new entry with a tree and flower theme (will be up soon!). Until that's done I wanted to start sharing some of my daily inspirations. These will be drawings, photographs, poems, quotes, and other things that strike a chord with me. Hopefully you will find them useful or at the least aesthetically pleasing!
